The Ultimate Father’s Day Gift Guide

Last updated on June 13th, 2022 at 03:59 pm

Is it just us, or does Father’s Day’s seem difficult to find good gifts? As women, it always seem easier to buy for women and there just seems to be more choices, especially for add-ons. You buy a top, you can add some matching jewelry. But for the guys, it’s not always that easy. That’s why we’ve come up with the Ultimate Father’s Day Gift Guide.

Dianne’s Gift Guide Shopping Tips

As the “senior” member of The Harper Girls, I’ve bought a lot more Father’s Day gifts. Some years I’ve knocked it out of the park, other years, not so much. But I keep trying. I tend to lean towards more personalized gifts, and I will often shop at stores like personalizationmall.com. Especially since they usually have Father’s Day sections to give you some great ideas. It’s a good idea to shop for personalized gifts early to make sure you get them in time. I also like to give “experiences” like tickets to concerts or sporting events, things we can do together and celebrate him at the same time.

I will share an “epic fail” gift I bought, and if the guy in your life is a golfer, you might want to avoid this gift as well. My husband, Jeff, always puts a “J’ on his golf balls so that he knows for sure which ball is his. One year, I thought it would be a great idea to have his name imprinted on golf balls, to save him some time. While he appreciated the thought, the idea of having someone find his ball in the woods (indicating a horrible shot) with his full name on it, wasn’t as thoughtful as I envisioned! The next year I put his just initial on them.

Jen’s Father’s Day Gift Guide Shopping Tips

My Dad is VERY hard to buy gifts for, and I’ve got something in mind for this year. But I can’t share it yet, just in case! Same for Mike, if there’s something he and I want, we usually just buy it (within reason).

A lot of these things I’ve gotten for my Dad for Father’s Day in the past, or things I’ve gotten for Mike on other occasions! Plus, some of these just look really cool!

Like for Mother’s Day, I want to make sure I’m putting thought into what I’m getting, and not just something generic. But it’s much harder than it looks!

The Ultimate Father’s Day Gift Guide

Man Crates

Jen: I’ve gotten this for Mike before, and it’s pretty funny. The package is a legit crate, and comes with a crowbar to try and open it with. There’s so many Man Crates to choose from, that anyone would get a laugh out of opening up the box, and then will love what’s inside!

Foot Cardigan

Jen: I’ve gotten this for Mike before too! He loves patterned socks (I don’t think he even owns any white socks), so he loved getting a fun pair of socks in the mail every month! He’s gotten me socks from them before too – like the Mean Girls series, which is *chef’s kiss*.

Personalized Golf Club Markers

If you’ve ever left a club on the course, then you know that anxious that can make you. You hope someone will turn it in and you will get it back. While most golfers are honest and understand, this will give him peace of mind in getting it back. Adding a phone number is a great idea.

Garmin Approach GPS

Dianne: These are great, especially when playing a new course. I don’t know how many times I’ve said to Jeff “How far am I from the green?” I’m not that good for it to really make a difference, but I try! Garmin has an entire collection of GPS golf items, including watches, that you can see here.

Waterproof Rain Suit

Great for golf, but he’ll get lots of use out of these for other occasions, like hunting or even sitting outside in the rain during a college football game (yep, been there, done that!)

Coravin Wine Preservation for Father's Day

Coravin Wine Preservation System

Dianne: I got this for Mother’s Day and I love it. Jeff is not a wine drinker so we end up wasting a lot of wine because I can’t finish an entire bottle by myself. The Coravin pours without moving the cork and your wine can stay fresh for years. A great gift for any wine lover. Learn more about the technology here.

Nitro Cold Brew Coffee Maker

Jen: Mike loves cold brew, and coffee in general (my Dad doesn’t though!) so this would be a super fun gift to give him. I would also be able to reap the rewards, just with a little creamer added.

PhoneSoap

If your Dad is a bit of a germaphobe (and who isn’t these days?), the PhoneSoap makes an awesome gift. This cool contraption zaps all the bacteria on your phone using UV light. I got one as a Christmas present years ago, and I love it (Jen)!

Hot Ones Hot Sauces

Have you ever watched Hot Ones on YouTube? It’s a phenomenal interview show where the host and celebrities eat increasingly hotter and hotter wings until they’re so hot it’s nearly unbearable. If your Dad is adventurous or likes crazy spicy food, you can buy the hot sauces from the show. Including a pack of all 10 from the “least” spicy, all the way to the Last Dab (insanely hot).

Leadership: A Life Sport by Jacob Werksman
Two Inspiring Books He’ll Love

Leadership: A Life Sport

Written by an ex-Navy Seal (and colleague of Jeff, Dianne’s husband), this is a quick and easy read from a man who is wise beyond his years. Jacob tells stories and offers key insights on how to be a great leader. It’s simple, engaging and to the point. You can read the entire book in just a couple of hours.

Best Seat in the House

If there’s ever a traditional Father’s Day gift, this is it. Written by the son of great golfer Jack Nicklaus, he tells the stories, insights and lessons his learned from his father.

Audible Gift Membership for Father's Day

Audible Gift Membership

If you’re not sure what he really likes to read, or if he travels a lot, then an Audible gift membership is the way to go. They come in one month, three months, six months and 12 month options, so you can add it on to an existing gift or make it a gift all on its own.

E-Creamery Custom Ice Cream for Father's Day
eCreamery Custom Cartons

ECreamery.com

Did you know there’s an online ice cream store where you custom design your own ice cream? And not just ice cream, gelato and sorbet too!

You start with your base flavor (over 40 to choose from) and then you can also add up to three mix-ins including fruits, nuts, candy and baked goods. And they do have special shipping to keep your order frozen until the evening of your delivery day!

Outdoor Beer Table

We included an outdoor wine table in our Mother’s Day Gift Guide, and now here’s a beer table for Dad (or mom!). When you’re outside this summer, make sure you don’t spill your beer in the grass! For shame!

Shinola Watch

Shinola can be pretty pricey, but these watches make an awesome gift. You can get the watches engraved too for an extra special touch. Plus, if you live in Michigan you can visit the Shinola outlet and get a great deal on a new watch, and other Shinola products too!

Allbirds Shoes for Father's Day

AllBirds

These are the BEST shoes. Mike and I each have two pairs, and wear them all the time. What’s great is you don’t wear socks! The Wool Runners are like comfy sweaters for your feet. We each got a pair of Tree Runners for when we went to Disney World, and after walking 10+ miles a day, I had no blisters or discomfort. Nothing.

Lovesac

Jen: For as long as I can remember, my Grandparents had an old bean bag in the basement that whenever we went to their house it was a race to reach the bean bag first. Spoiler alert, my Dad won most of the time. A couple Christmases ago, my sister, Mom and I got my Dad a Lovesac as his big gift. There probably isn’t a day it hasn’t been used since! My daughter even likes to jump in it when we go to their house!

Theragun Mini

If your Dad is into working out and self-care, the Theragun is great. The mini is meant for muscle treatment that is along the lines of a massage. If your Dad needs a little bit of a deeper treatment, the Prime, Elite and PRO are all great options. My Dad and I both have the Prime, and it’s great for working on sore and tired muscles.

Topps Baseball Card Shirt

Topps Baseball Cards Vintage T-Shirt

Guys/Baseball fans from a certain generation (like Dianne’s husband and Jen’s dad) would love this tee. It bring back great memories of collecting baseball cards and that awful, but irresistible gum!

First Father’s Day

Ninja Specialty Coffee Maker for Father's Day

Ninja Specialty Coffee Maker

The two things on a first time parent’s mind are usually “I need to sleep” and “I need more caffeine”, so this crazy coffee maker will help with both.

Ring Doorbell

If you’ve got a techie new Dad, they’ll love the Ring Doorbell. They can see who is at the front door, and you can change the sound of the doorbell. It’s especially helpful when you have a sleeping baby, and you will lose it if someone rings the doorbell.

Indi Diaper Backpack

This would be a great gift for a soon-to-be Dad. I know a lot of Dads that were pretty excited to get a diaper bag of their own. And you could put some baby essentials in there too, so he’s ready to go!

Noise Cancelling Headphones

Vuori Performance Jogger

Jen: I got these for my birthday before becoming a mom, and boy are they a lifesaver. Eme needed to be rocked/bounced to sleep when she was a baby, so I would prop my phone up on her changing table, put on my headphones and bounce away. These headphones and NOT an excuse for not hearing your family though!

Vuori Performance Jogger

If a new Dad is going to be at home helping take care of baby, why not be super comfortable? I’ve heard nothing but great things about this brand, and although it’s a little pricey why not buy him something he wouldn’t buy for himself?

Nintendo Switch Lite

Nintendo Switch Lite

For the Dad at heart who needs a little down time, a Nintendo Switch Lite is perfect. There’s nothing like a couple games of Mario Kart to relax!

The Dad Hoodie

The Dad Hoodie

I have no idea if this works well in lieu of a diaper bag, but it looks hilarious!
