Brown clothes probably aren’t the first thing you think about when planning wardrobe additions. But we want you to think differently. Brown is so on trend right now and in so many shades. While the classic chocolate brown seems to be the most popular, there were many other shades on the runway this year. From cocoa to mocha brown, people “in the know” are calling it the new neutral.

Celebrities are getting on board with brown clothes too. These images were all taken in the last several months. In fact, Drew’s Barrymore’s dress is the one she wore to Brittany Spears wedding less than two weeks ago. You should check out Drew’s entire look, including her gold platform shoes on her Instagram.
I happened to catch Simone Ashley (of “Bridgerton”) on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” just recently and fell in love with her brown ensemble as well. And if Kim and JLo are wearing brown, well, then you know it has to be in style.
You might be thinking that brown is more of a fall color. You wouldn’t be wrong, but there is so much brown for this season right now that you don’t want to miss. Summer brown clothes can be so pretty, especially with a tan (real or sunless!). We’re going to start with brown for summer, but we’ll be back in the fall to update this post with brand new ideas for you!

BROWN TOPS
There are lots of brown tops in different shades of brown. I am more drawn to chocolate brown, but having different shades to pick from makes it easy to pick the shade that works the best for you. This one-shoulder top is from Express and it’s a great transitional top. You can wear it now on cooler nights with white jeans and easily wear it with traditional denim come fall. (It’s now sold out, but I’ve got some great alternatives below.)

Whenever I think of brown-toned dresses I think of Julia Roberts in her cocoa brown colored polka dot dress from “Pretty Woman”. So I am naturally drawn to polka dot dresses. We’re updating this for fall, but we updated the summer dresses below. All are still available, including Jen’s polka dot dress.

If you read out post “How to Wear it at Any Age Volume 10”, you may have noticed the black jumpsuit Jen and I both styled from Amazon. This is almost the same jumpsuit, except that it can be worn as a boat neck or off the shoulder. (I appear to have a “thing” for off the shoulder tops!)

If you’re not ready to go all in on clothes, then you may want to add an accessory for now. Of course, if you are all-in, then by all means add some shoes or a purse to round out the perfect outfit.
