Fall Jackets: Our Top 11 Favorites to Buy Now

Last updated on October 22nd, 2021 at 10:24 pm

The time is now to go shopping for fall jackets!

Here in Michigan, we don’t get very long between blazing hot summer and winter. So we need to make the most of the fall weather while we can! These are all great choices to window shop in your favorite downtown with your favorite pumpkin spice latte in tow.

Dianne’s Favorite Fall Jackets

I went straight to my personal jacket collection for this list. Unfortunately, most of them are not specifically available to purchase right now. So I did a lot of digging to find something just as good – or even better! So I am sharing my favorite looks and great places for you to find them.

Sherpa Jacket

This is new addition for me – in fact I just received it a week ago. I haven’t worn it out yet, but wearing it for photos, I know how cozy it is! It’s pretty warm so I can see me wearing into deeper into fall – even maybe on Thanksgiving. This one is a new addition to Limelush boutique, so it should still be available.

Leather Trench Coat

I purchased my leather trench coat at the end of last season – so late I didn’t even get to wear it, but it was an incredible deal. I am SO looking forward to wearing it very soon. What I love about this jacket is that it can just as easily be worn with jeans as it can with a dress. I think it’s very chic.

Quilted Jacket

This is a great “errand-running” coat. It’s one that I would definitely use more on a Saturday afternoon than a Saturday night. What I love most about it is the color. I’ve had so many black and navy coats over the years. What I like about the burgundy color is that it’s still pretty neutral but adds a pop of color.

Plaid Topper Coat

I recently found my plaid topper coat at Macy’s Backstage. If you’re not familiar with Macy’s Backstage, it’s pretty much a clearance center. To be honest, I don’t usually spend a lot of time in there, but the last time I was there, I did find a couple of gems. I tried to find my exact coat online and I did find the same brand at Nordstrom Rack (Melloday) but only found my specific pattern in Plus Size, which I will put the link here. This is as close as I could find to my pattern.

Faux Leather with Faux Fur Moto Jacket

I have been obsessed with Cameron Diaz’s black shearling coat from “The Holiday” for years. When I first found this jacket, it reminded me of it and I had to have it. I am still on the hunt from Cameron’s full coat…maybe someday!

Jen’s Favorite Fall Jackets

Zipped Moto Jacket

This is one of my new favorite purchases that I can’t wait to start wearing. There’s just something so cool about wearing a faux-leather jacket. It can dress up almost any outfit, and make you look great, but you didn’t even try (but sometimes, you really do try!).

I also wore this jacket in our last Wear it at Any Age post, because I love it that much!

Wool Dad Coat

This jacket could definitely make the transition from fall to winter and still look super fashionable. It’s reminiscent of a pea coat I’d wear in the winter time when I’m dressed up, and I love the tan color. Plus, it really does remind me of something my dad wore to work when I was younger!

Abercrombie Wool Dad Coat, $220, on sale for $187

Sherpa Jean Jacket

A jean jacket is always a yes from me, I’ve had so many different styles that I’ve worn over the years. What I love about this one is the sherpa lining. When it gets a little colder outside, but you just can’t give up wearing your jean jacket, the sherpa is going to keep you nice and warm! This would be perfect for a visit to the cider mill or pumpkin patch!

Levi Sherpa Jean Jacket

Vegan Suede Moto Jacket

The equally cool sibling to the zipped moto jacket is this suede moto jacket. The brown suede is so gorgeous for fall, and compliments all your cute seasonal outfits. Pair this with a cream sweater, jeans and some over the knee boots for the ultimate fall look.

Sherpa Bomber Jacket

Doesn’t this jacket just scream cozy? And who doesn’t like to be cozy during the fall? I scoured Target for this jacket two years ago, and I wear it all the time when it’s a little chilly out and I want to feel bundled up and still look cute!

Anorak Jacket

I have an Anorak jacket that I got years ago that’s still a staple in my fall jacket lineup today. I love olive green for a casual outfit, and how great it looks with a flannel, or a sweater and my brown boots. The pockets also give it a unique look that’s different from all the other jackets on this list.
