It may still be January, but it’s never too soon to start talking about the best new trends for Spring/Summer 2023.
The New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer ’23 shows took place last September. In the past we’ve usually reported the trends right away and then added pieces to shop for each trend as it got closer to the season. This time we’re doing it a little bit differently.
We are still going to share all the trends now and add great new pieces as we get closer to Spring. But this time we’re adding some transitional items you can pick up now and be ahead of the curve when Spring arrives!
So, let’s get started. Here are the biggest trends for Spring/Summer 2023!

Best New Trends for Spring/Summer 2023: The Top 10
The process we use in listing these trends starts by creating a “scorecard”. We’ll read one article and make an initial list and as we read more articles, we will give points to a trend each time we see it. We couldn’t list every single trend that is mentioned in every article, so we narrow it down to the top 10 that seem consistent across the board.
And, the number one trend we saw everywhere, was actually a color! So we’ll start there.
Neon/Lime Green
This was the most consistent trend we saw, everyone was talking about it. We’ll talk more about color and accessories in a later post, but if you want to add a new color to your Spring wardrobe, this should be it!
Lime green can be a little intimidating, but don’t be afraid of giving it a try. There are different shades as we’re showing below. Keep trying until you find the shade that works best for you skin tone.

Best New Trends for Spring/Summer 2023: Cargo Pockets
One of the most memorable things we read was that “Kim Possible’s outfit is back”. If you’re a fan of the Disney series from the early 2000’s, this may be the look for you!
While cargo pants can really be worn all year long, we will be updating this anyway as Spring gets closer for new cargo skirts, linen pants, etc.!

Sheer Everything!
This trend is a little harder we think for most people. But keep in mind, you don’t have to go “full sheer” to get the look. That’s why we included some tops with just sheer sleeves. There is even a sheer cardigan that you can throw over anything. More will come, we’re sure, as we get closer to spring.

Best New Trends for Spring/Summer 2023: Groundbreaking Florals
The reason we kept reading about “groundbreaking” florals for spring was because of this famous line from “The Devil Wears Prada”.
Florals can be expected for spring, but for 2023 we’re seeing them in a whole new light!

Fringe
Fringe is one of those trends that seems to come in and out of style every few years and for 2023, it’s back in!

Button Downs
Button downs are a classic and pretty much always around, but this year designers have decided to elevate them to a new level. They can be easily dressed up or dressed down.

Long Denim
Long denim and all denim are big trends we are seeing right now. In addition to these long denim dresses and skirts, we’re also seeing baggy and wide leg jeans coming into style as well. Many of these long denim dresses are button down style, so you can combine two trends into one.

Bubble Hems
Bubble hems are returning from their popularity in the early 2000’s. Even if you wore them back then, they still can be a little tricky to style. Stay tuned as we find more more to style them as we get closer to the season.

Minimalist
Minimalist looks are never really out of style and they are a good alternative if you like the basics. It’s a look you never go wrong with.

Metallics and Sequins
On the opposite end of the spectrum from the minimalist styles, we have sequins and metallics. Sequins and metallics are really a continuation of the last several seasons. They continue to represent optimism post pandemic!
