HOW DOES “HOW TO WEAR IT AT ANY AGE” WORK?

This is how “How to Wear it at Any Age Volume 23” works: We decide together on the items that we want to style. We do not share how we were going to style each one, so that we can’t influence each other. Sometimes we will style things very similar and sometimes very different. But we hope in all cases we give you some style inspiration, no matter what your age or life stage!

THE CHALLENGE FOR “HOW TO WEAR IT AT ANY AGE” VOLUME 23

PEARL AND RHINESTONE MESH TOP – JEN’S STYLING

Woman wearing pearl and rhinestone top

With holiday parties starting now, it can be stressful coming up with so many different outfits. But you can simplify! Mix and match different items to create unique looks that work for any occasion! You’ll see that I “mixed-and-matched” with all three of the pieces that we’re styling for “How to Wear it at Any Age Volume 23”.

This top is fabulous and makes a stunning date night or girls night outfit! I got a bodysuit that was slimming and I didn’t need to wear a bra with, to show off this top!

The sparkle of the top and the shoes compliment each other without being too bright. And these FlexX jeans from Express are so comfortable! When we bought the pair for our last At Any Age, I got a couple more pairs, including these black ones!

And of course, my faux black leather jacket goes with literally everything!

My shoes are from Target, but I also included an almost exact pair from Amazon, as the sizes on Target were selling out.

If you still want to feel sexy, but don’t want to show as much skin, go for a long sleeve bodysuit! Swap out the jeans for some faux-leather pants, and you’ll have jaws dropping!

Depending on the weather, a pair of black booties or black pumps pull everything together.

No need for much jewelry either. Some rhinestone or pearl studs are really all you need. And a basic bag. Make sure the focus is on the top!

PEARL/RHINESTONE MESH TOP – DIANNE’S STYLING

Pearl Top At Any Age

Jen couldn’t have said it better: this top is stunning! And it can be worn in so many ways. You can keep it casual with jeans like we both did, or you can easily dress it up and focus more on the pearls/softer side of the top.

The top is somewhat cropped, so I decided to wear my tank top “out”. My tank is also somewhat cropped but just long enough to show just a little bit of the top. I wouldn’t wear a tank out that’s any longer than this.

I paired it with our new favorite Express FLEXX jeans that we wore in “How to Wear it at Any Age Volume 22”. We can’t get enough of these jeans. I also bought a second pair in a darker wash, which are the ones you see here. I added the pumps for a dressier look and the gold bag for the “party effect”.

Here’s how I would finish the look with my black moto jacket:

As I mentioned, you can easily dress this top up and pair it with a pencil skirt and stilleto boots. The ivory coat and pearl earrings blend with the pearls on the top. I added the metallic pink bag for a festive pop of color.

METALLIC SILVER SKIRT – JEN’S STYLING

Metallic Skirt At Any Age

This skirt makes such fun holiday outfits! I wore it to see Frozen for Eme’s first Broadway show, and it was perfect!

Pairing it with this sweater feels cozy, while still being dressed up for the holidays. I’m obsessed with these shoes, and adding the bag dresses it up just a little bit more.

Two ways to pull off the sweater-tucked-into-a-skirt look!

  1. Tie a belt around your waist, over your sweater. Pull the sweater up over the belt so the sweater is draped a bit, and you can’t see the belt.
  2. Tuck the bottom of the sweater into the underside of your bra band

MY ALTERNATE LOOK:

Metallic Skirt Alternate Look

When I was putting together my outfits I was a huge fan of this one too. Almost everything is the same, except I swapped the sweater for my bodysuit from the rhinestone and pearl top outfit.

Just that one change takes the whole outfit from comfy holiday to va-va-voom!

I’ve also paired this skirt with the long-sleeve bodysuit (since it’s colder outside), and I really love the look!

METALLIC SILVER SKIRT – DIANNE’S STYLING

How to Wear it at Any Age Volume 23

With metallics being so popular this season, we really wanted to find something we both loved. This skirt fit the bill. To be honest, we were both a little skeptical about the pleats in this skirt, worrying that it would make us look “large”. But it’s much more flattering that we could have hoped.

I bought this sweater last year and love the netting on the sleeves. I couldn’t really find anything that matched that well, but I did include a flutter sleeve sweater that will give you a similar look. Adding the matching metallic belt I thought gave the skirt a finished look around the waist.

My shoes are a silver rhinestone pair that I picked up in Marshall’s for like $20 at the end of last season. I didn’t know when I would wear them, but here is the perfect place for them. I added a pop of color with my vintage-looking purple handbag!

To finish the look, I added a cropped faux fur jacket.

When I first saw this skirt, my immediate thinking was pairing it with purple. But then I remembered my sweater with the netted sleeves and went with that. (I did add the purple bag though!) But I would definitely wear this outfit as well.

I went with the sleeveless turtleneck to keep it more streamlined because of the full skirt. Adding the lavender moto jacket I thought would be fun and to add a edgy feel to the outfit. I even added another texture with the purple velvet bag. The shoes I kept the same because I didn’t want to break up the color of the skirt with the shoes. I wanted a monochrome look from the waist to the floor.

OFF-THE-SHOULDER SWEATER – JEN’S STYLING

How to Wear it at Any Age Volume 23

While it’s not as shiny, this top can be paired with shimmer and sparkle. Perfect for a family holiday gathering, or a work party!

The black pants are a little more dressed up than regular jeans, but not so far as a dress pant. The outfit itself is relatively subdued. But the shoes and the bag together add just enough sparkle if there’s any concern over being “work-appropriate”.

The purple color in my sweater is now sold out, but there are other colors still available, including Aunt Dianne’s berry color. So, for my alternate look, I used the cream color version of the sweater.

If you want to change up your holiday look from sparkly to more traditional, go for a plaid pant! Plaid feels like a quintessential holiday pattern, and it doesn’t have to be overly preppy!

A bright red lip, simple eye makeup and red nails make this the ultimate holiday get-together outfit.

OFF-THE-SHOULDER SWEATER – DIANNE’S STYLING

Off the shoulder sweater

I simply love off-the-shoulder tops. They are sexy without being too sexy and they can just be so festive. We decided to go with two different colors for this sweater. Jen went with the purple and decided to try a brighter color. I actually love pink for the holidays.

I paired it with my Spanx faux leather leggings and my heeled knee-high boots. and felt my plaid handbag gave the entire outfit a holiday feel! You can’t see it too well in the photo but it does have bright pink stripes in the bag. I’ve had it a couple of years, but found the exact bag on Poshmark.

Here are some alternate ways to finish off the look. Since wearing a coat can be a little difficult with off-the-shoulder tops, I went with the wrap/poncho to be comfortable. And I love wearing the scarf and hat with this top for a ski-lodge inspired look!

For my alternate look, I continued with my ski-lodge inspired look. I used the same hat and scarf, but swapped the faux leather leggings for the ivory fleece-lined ones, along with the ivory combat boots. I thought the pink puffer tote kept it all in the same color family and theme!
