HOW DOES “HOW TO WEAR IT AT ANY AGE” WORK?

This is how “How to Wear it at Any Age Volume 22” works: We decide together on the items that we want to style. We do not share how we were going to style each one, so that we can’t influence each other. Sometimes we will style things very similar and sometimes very different. But we hope in all cases we give you some style inspiration, no matter what your age or life stage!

THE CHALLENGE FOR “HOW TO WEAR IT AT ANY AGE” VOLUME 22

HIGH RISE FLARE PANTS – DIANNE’S STYLING

At Any Age

These pants are so comfortable that they will make a perfect Thanksgiving Day outfit. They are a pull on style, so they have lots of room to expand for that pumpkin pie. I went with a black top because the pants are more of a brown/rust color, so pairing black didn’t make it look like Halloween.

My top with the faux leather sleeves is a new favorite of mine. I like finding short sleeve options for the holidays because it always seems to be warm at family functions, and even more so if I am hosting and spending a lot of time in the kitchen. What I also loved about this top is that while it is short sleeve, the faux leather makes it feel like a fall top. I added the belt for just a little bit of interest and detail.

DIANNE’S ALTERNATE LOOK:

How to Wear it At Any Age Alternate look

For this alternate look, I kept everything in the same color palette. These pants can be dressed up or down, so I swapped out the booties for the pumps and added some dressier earrings. I added the belt so the blouse could be tucked in and the belt would cinch the waist. With the flare in the pants, cinching the waist would give you a nice hourglass shape!

HIGH RISE FLARE PANTS – JEN’S STYLING

These pants have a mod/retro feel to them, and are really unique. Even though they’re from Target! They’re also a flare/sort-of-bootcut style, so maybe I’m not into skinny jeans as much anymore? What?!

When I saw these pants, I instantly thought of the plaid bomber jacket we wore in our last At Any Age, and how well the colors would look together. The cream sweater pulls it all together and keeps you warm as it gets chillier outside.

JEN’S ALTERNATE LOOK:

These pants are super comfortable, so they’re also perfect for a casual outfit. The orange stripes in this sweater coordinate well with the pants, without looking like a full-on pumpkin.

The denim shirt breaks up the orange and keeps the outfit low-key. Plus the platform Converse keep the pants from dragging on the ground while still looking put-together.

FAUX LEATHER PENCIL SKIRT – DIANNE’S STYLING

I intentionally went with more of a “matchy-matchy” look. Tan and cream is a great combination and I wanted to stay with those tones all the way around. I added the chunky pearl and gold necklace to keep it classic with a little bit of a modern edge.

The cream colored pumps I bought on a whim a little while back, a “just-in-case” purchase and I love how they work with this outfit. My handbag is from Staud – I had been coveting it ever since I saw Rebecca carrying it multiple times on “Ted Lasso”. It was a major birthday hint to Jeff and he came through! A note about the skirt — it does run a little small, so we would suggest sizing up.

DIANNE’S ALTERNATE LOOK:

This is another outfit that can be dressed up or down and I tried to do a little of both. The sweater with the gold buttons and the gold handbag dress it up. The boots keep it a little more casual. it’s the the perfect day-to-night outfit and also a perfect dressy Thanksgiving outfit.

FAUX LEATHER PENCIL SKIRT – JEN’S STYLING

Woman dressing at any age

With leather (the real and faux variety) back in style, this pencil skirt is a unique way to incorporate the material into your wardrobe. Beyond a leather jacket (but you know I love my faux-leather jacket more than anything).

You can’t really tell under the plaid blazer, but this sweater is short sleeves! It’s great for fall when you have no idea if it’s going to be a warm day, a cold day, or somewhere in-between.

I got these shoes for my sister’s wedding, and I’ve worn them multiple times since. They’re super comfortable, and the strap makes them a little different than my other nude heels.

JEN’S ALTERNATE LOOK:

When I saw this off-the-shoulder top I knew it was perfect for the skirt. It’s feminine and paired with the skirt is totally sexy. The cream colored boots and blush bag pull together all the florals in the shirt.

I’m also a big fan of this coat – it looks like it would be really warm but it’s so stylish at the same time.

Just imagine wearing this on a dinner date, or going to see a show (like our Broadway in Detroit tickets)!

MID RISE SKYSCRAPER JEANS – DIANNE’S STYLING

Skyscraper Jeans

I love these jeans and they are a brand new offering from Express. They are actually sized S, M, L, XL. I am wearing the medium which is for sizes 6-10. They are designed to change shape with your body. So if you lose or gain weight, they move with you. I also love the styling, especially the side slit.

Because of the more flared leg, I wanted to go with a cropped sweater to keep it a long, fluid look. I find it harder to wear a necklace with a mock neck sweater so I went with the oversized hoops and then added the small tweed tote to finish out the look.

I love these snakeskin boots with these jeans. The side slit allows you to show off these great boots. I kept the rest of outfit in gray monotone shades so that the focus can stay on the jeans and the boots.

MID RISE SKYSCRAPER JEANS – JEN’S STYLING

How to Wear it at Any Age Volume 22

Even at this point in my postpartum journey, I’m still not sure what size I am. And that’s why these jeans are absolutely amazing! They come in small, medium, large and extra-large, which correlates with 3 numerical sizes.

It’s a great feeling putting on your jeans and knowing they’re going to fit and look good!

We tried out the “Skyscraper” leg, which isn’t quite a bootcut or flare, but is different from the styles I typically wear. Paired with heeled boots, your legs are literally going to look like skyscrapers!

This orange sweater is a fun departure from the more muted neutrals in the fall. But it’s toned down a little with the checkered fleece.

JEN’S ALTERNATE LOOK:

These jeans are a little more casual with the bodysuit and leather jacket, but still look really cool. The wedge winter boots are great for the cooler weather, but as a bonus keep your jeans from getting dirty/soggy/ripped up at the bottom. Does anyone else remember that from the 90’s/00’s? Ugh.

This bag and jacket are from Quince, and the bag is almost an exact dupe of a Marc Jacobs tote!
