How to Wear it at Any Age Volume 18

For “How to Wear it at Any Age” Volume 18, we’re starting out with a perfect dress from Old Navy. Why is it perfect? Because the same dress comes in both “regular” and maternity sizes. and that makes it perfect for us. Not only does it demonstrate a dress that works for any age, it’s also perfect for any life stage. We then move on to the “it” color of the season, neon lime green and end with a perfect transitional jacket as we creep closer to spring!

You might be wondering if we’ll be continuing “At Any Age” as Jen’s pregnancy progresses. And we are, as long as possible. You’ll see in this edition we’re both styling a neon lime green purse – that’s just one way we’ll continue in the short term. So stick with us – we’ve got lots of ideas on how to keep you inspired! We might take a short break when the baby arrives, but we’ll definitely be back!

This is how “How to Wear it at Any Age Volume 18” works: We decide together on the items that we want to style. We do not share how we were going to style each one, so that we can’t influence each other. Sometimes we will style things very similar and sometimes very different. But we hope in all cases we give you some style inspiration, no matter what your age or life stage!

THE CHALLENGE FOR “HOW TO WEAR IT AT ANY AGE” VOLUME 18

Royal Blue Polo Dress

Typically, I am not a “polo” person. It might have something to do with my days as a Promotional Manager for Chevrolet. It seems like we had to wear polos for every event. So, that’s what they remind me of. But I am glad to make an exception for this dress.

I love the fit of this dress. While it is a little form fitting, it’s not too tight so it’s very flattering. I knew immediately that I wanted to pair this with knee high boots. It seems sometimes that booties are taking over, but I still like the classic look of a nicely heeled black boot.

As we move into spring, this is a great transitional look. You can pair this dress with some tan boots and lighter accessories or with some sneakers, as I’ve done in my alternate look.

What I love about this dress is that it can be dressed up or down. With the black boots, it’s looks like a date-night dress. Swap out the boots for some sneakers and you’ve got a great outfit for hanging with your girlfriends.

I didn’t mention the color earlier. Royal blue is a color that looks great on almost everyone and it’s a color you can wear all year long. You’ll get so much wear out of this dress.

It’s awesome that this dress is available in maternity and regular styles! Toward the end of pregnancy, not much is comfortable anymore. And last time, I wore a lot of dresses.

I love the look with this dress and my white Nike sneakers. Super comfortable not only for my belly, but for my feet too! Thankfully for now, I can still reach my feet to tie my own shoes!

Go with me on this one! As I was thinking of different ways to style this dress, I wanted to find something that didn’t have a collar that would compete with this one. I thought of my oversized sweater vest, and thought it would look great with the collar.

The dress, sweater vest, and ankle boots is a completely different look from my outfit with sneakers!

How to Wear it at Any Age: Neon Lime Green Handbag

I love green and navy together (both lime green and kelly green). So I knew that I wanted to pair this bag with a monochromatic jeans look and also wanted to add something to tie in the green. I am wearing a scarf that I have probably owned for over 20 years. You can’t see it too well, but it’s ivory with lime green and yellow polka dots. It still works for so many things.

So with lime green being so on trend this year (see our post on 2023 Spring trends) you’ll be able to find a lot of accessories in this color. The alternate scarf that I put above is one that I actually just purchased from Loft. It would also look great with this outfit!

Similarly, I stuck with the monochromatic look for my alternate, but just a little brighter. I love this all ivory look with just a pop of color with bag and earrings. What I love about this outfit is that you can get the same look with any color bag, but the neon green is the color of the season.

I LOVE neon green! It’s such a fun color to incorporate into your wardrobe! I would want to keep the focus on the bag itself, so more than likely I’d go with an all-black outfit (surprised much? Ha!).

And to me, all black feels less like I’m wearing a summery outfit (but I’d take warmer weather), and more like I’m showing off something I really like.

Depending on the shoes – combat boots, flats, sneakers, heels – and the jewelry, you can completely change up the look. All with the same main pieces!

Alternatively, an all-neutral look will also make this neon bag stand out! I love these cream-colored pants, if only they fit me right now!

What would fit me right now are these super cute mules! I have a black pair that I wore for work almost exclusively during the last couple months of my first pregnancy. I did a LOT of walking, so I can tell you they’re definitely comfortable!

Olive Green Corduroy Jacket

I’ll admit that this jacket was a little bit of a challenge for me, it’s not my typical look. But I love to play with items and see what I can come up. The corduroy jacket is pretty much an all-casual piece, but i wanted to add something to it, which is why I added the hat to add some fun to the look. I really think it finishes it off!

DIANNE’S ALTERNATE LOOK:

It might not be the first color combination you’d think of, but I do like burgundy and olive green together. It’s a great fall/winter look. While the olive green has more yellow undertones, the burgundy is more blue-toned. So when you wear them together, the combo usually works for all skin tones.

I haven’t worn corduroy in a while, but I thought this shirt/jacket was great when I saw it! I probably wouldn’t wear it just as a button-down shirt, but more as a jacket. Especially now since I can’t button up much!

Keeping this outfit relatively simple, I’d wear it with jeans and a white t-shirt. Depending on the weather, I’d wear my combat boots to keep my feet warm. Or if it’s warmer out, I’d wear this with a cute pair of slides or sneakers.

JEN’S ALTERNATE LOOK:

This jacket can be dressed up too! Since it’s still chilly out, I’m still loving sweater dresses. And this tan color looks so good with the jacket! A pair of patterned tights and ankle boots or combat boots make an effortlessly cool look.

As it gets warmer out, a flowery dress would work really well with the jacket. Plus a cute pair of flats, you’ve got a great spring look that will still keep you warm.
