Beauty At Any Age Volume 14: How to Apply the Strawberry Makeup Trend

You may have heard of the strawberry makeup trend. This makeup trend originated over the summer by Hailey Bieber, and quickly caught on. And the good news is, it’s going to continue to be popular in 2024! But don’t worry, you don’t need to add faux freckles to make this look work!

The cheeks are the focal point of this look, and keeping the rest of your makeup looking fresh. It may seem a little “much” at first, but stay with it. After we both created our strawberry makeup looks, we kept it on all day. It was actually nice to walk by the mirror and see a glowing face. We think you’ll feel the same way too.

And don’t think of strawberry makeup as just a springtime trend. We would both definitely use this look right now for that “fresh off the slopes” look too!

Jen’s Strawberry Makeup Look

For me, the strawberry makeup trend means glowing skin, glossy lips and skipping bronzer.

If you can, try to not use powder all over your face. I’ll still use powder to set my undereyes, and my t-zone and chin area, but leave my cheeks powder-free.

You could also use some extra setting spray throughout the makeup process to help the powder sink into your skin better.

Even if you use powder on your cheeks, don’t apply a liquid or cream product on top of powder! Always use a liquid or cream formula after you’ve applied foundation, before any sort of powder! You could even set a liquid blush with a powder blush to keep the color intensity.

The e.l.f Cosmetics Camo Liquid Blush is new, and a dupe for the Rare Beauty liquid blushes!

These are super pigmented, so apply them sparingly.

To start, place one dot of blush higher up on your cheek, closer to your cheekbones. This will give your face a lifted appearance. Versus applying blush to the apples of your cheeks, which will make your face look more rounded.

You could use a makeup sponge, but I prefer a brush or my fingers to blend in this product for the best color distribution. I’ll go in with a makeup sponge after to finish blending or tone down the color if need be.

I’ve started bringing my blush higher up on my cheeks, getting closer to the temples. Then I’ll use the last remaining product on my brush on my eyelids. Just to tie everything together.

Blend, blend, blend, so you’ve got a healthy flush going!

To finish up the look, I added a skinny brown wing, mascara and highlighter. Plus I blotted on a little bright strawberry-hue lipstick and a little bit of gloss!

And even though it’s barely snowed here in Michigan, this look and I are saying we’re ready for spring!

Dianne’s Look

There was a delay in my receiving my blush order, but that gave me time to review what Jen wrote and be a little ahead of the game. When she mentioned that these liquid blushes are super pigmented, she is not exaggerating. A little goes a long way.

To give you an idea of what we are talking about, I too a picture after applying ONE DOT and starting to spread with my fingers. You’ll see it all worked out o.k. in my final photo, but I encourage you to start slow. You can always add more, you can’t take it away.

So, as you can imagine, I had to do a lot of blending after this. I mostly used my finger, but I also used a beauty sponge. In all honesty, my blending was a little uneven, so I decided to add a little more blush. I used a teeny tiny bit, just to fill in. See my photo below to see just how little I used.

Here is the finished look and I love it. I think this is a look that anyone can do, no matter your age. Because it’s not about being “trendy”, it’s about a look that brightens your entire face. Who doesn’t want that?

After blending and getting the blush to where I liked it, I did add just a touch of highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones for a little extra glow. I did use a matte lipstick, one that I really liked the color, but I think next time I would add just a touch of gloss on top to add a little more glow.

For the inner corners of my eyes, I did use concealer, as well as concealer under my eyes. I love the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer and I do use two different shades. For the inner corners, I use “Brightener 160” which is a universal shade that anyone can use. I then use “Light 120” under my eyes to match my skin tone.
