You might be thinking – are “summer sneakers” a thing? Aren’t sneakers a year round shoe? You would be right – they are a year round shoe. But there are some styles of sneakers that just scream spring and summer.
From fabrics like canvas to colors like bright green, we’re doing a round up of our favorites styles this season. Of course, we have to include classic white sneakers too. They are also perfect for summer.

Fun Summer Sneakers
Cairuma
I (Dianne) first learned about this brand last summer when InStyle magazine ran a story about them, calling them the “Internet’s Favorite $79 sneaker” after Helen Mirren was spotted wearing them. I instantly fell in love with this green color although I held off from purchasing them until this year. That’s them in the photo above.
They are also sustainable and have removable inserts which are extremely comfortable.
Cariuma also has a partnership with Pantone and offer these same sneakers in the Color of the Year, Veri Peri for just $10 more.
Keds
What is summer without a pair of Keds? I think they take us all back to our youth! In addition to the classic Keds, they have also formed partnerships with both Kate Spade and Rifle Paper Co. for some unique looks.
Target
You can always count on Target to have some on-trend sneakers at an affordable price. We love the blue color of this first pair, but they also come in lime green, peach, black and white.
This next pair from Target are perfect transition sneakers from winter to spring – we all can use a little leopard sneaker, can’t we?
Other Fun Brands
Another great transitional sneaker are these quilted slip ons are Ecentrcq by Steve Madden, sold at DSW.
We talked about how gingham will be all the rage this summer in our post “NY Fashion Week Recap: New and Returning Trends for Spring/Summer 2022” and we even talked about these shoes! These are from Draper James, which is Reese Witherspoon’s company. Shopping tip: If you are looking for some high quality gingham pieces, this is the place to look!
Macy’s
And lastly in our “fun” category are some options from Macy’s, who frequently run sales. At the time of this writing, these Tommy Hilfiger knit sneakers were on sale for $34, from $65. These also come in a bright orange, green, blue, yellow and more.
These are classic American Ralph Lauren slip on sneakers – so fun and summery!
White Sneakers
Nike
Who doesn’t like a white sneaker? It’s the one white item that isn’t debatable as to whether or not you can wear it all year long! A great white leather sneaker is perfect all year round and the classic white canvas is perfect for summer.
The Nike Air Force 1’s are an incredibly popular shoe right now because they are comfortable and look great. Jen wore them all through Disney and didn’t have any problems!
Allbirds
If you’ve noticed that we’ve talked about these a lot, it’s because we love them so much. These could have easily been included in either category because they come in so many different colors and fabrics, but we especially like these Tree Runners and how light they are for summer.
Reebok
Reebok has come a long way since being the aerobic shoes of the 80’s. They are very much back in style.
Classic Keds
We mentioned Keds collaborations above with Kate Spade and Rifle Paper Co., but the classic Keds are always a good idea. We even styled them in on “Wear it At Any Age” series last May.
Superga
We’ve been reading a lot about these sneakers lately – they seem to be on everyone’s “best” list so we wanted to give them a shout out also. We like this low version but they also have a fun platform version that’s worth considering too!
Converse
And how can we not wrap this up with another All-American classic Chuck Taylor’s? We love this slip on style!
