What is OLAPLEX? OLAPLEX is a treatment system that works to repair broken bonds in your hair. Improving your hair strength, and protecting it from within.

The FAQ on their website has a lot of science to back up their products.

How to use the OLAPLEX system –

NOTE: You can’t keep any of these products on for too long! 10 minutes is just the minimum, but the efficacy will decrease after 40-45 minutes, or when the hair starts to dry. You can’t overuse these products!

  1. Apply No.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment to dry hair, fully saturating hair from root to tip. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Apply a generous amount of No.3 Hair Perfector from root to tip on damp hair (either from No.0 or water). Let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Shampoo and condition hair with No.4 and No.5, and towel dry hair
  4. Add No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask to damp hair, and let sit for at least 10 minutes and then rinse out the product.
  5. Apply No.6 Bond Smoother to hair from mid-length to the ends. Can be used on damp or dry hair.
  6. Add a small drop of No.7 Bonding Oil to hands and work from mid-lengths to ends. Can be used on damp or dry hair, and before heat styling.
What Did I Think?

Before I get into using the products, I’ll give you the skinny on my hair. It’s pretty thin, but there’s a lot of it. I wouldn’t say it’s pin straight, but it doesn’t really do much else. My hair will do anything in its power to not hold a curl. Unless I sleep overnight in rollers, and it turns out Shirley Temple isn’t a super popular look anymore.

As far as color goes, I’m a natural brunette and my hair so badly wants to be red. We have to color my hair pretty ashy to end up neutral. If I wanted to be a blonde, my hair would probably fry off before it got to the finish line.

I do have highlights, and I’ve had ombre hair with both blonde and red at the ends. So I do like trying new and fun things!

My hair is relatively healthy, especially now since I’ve used heat on it maybe 15 times in the past year, but my ends can get dry.

I’ll preface my thoughts with saying I don’t own No.6 or No.7, so I can’t speak to those. But all-in-all I really enjoy using these products and think it has made a difference in the quality of my hair.

I only wash my hair twice a week, so one of those sessions is dedicated to running through steps one through four. It takes a while (as you can imagine letting each product sit for 10 minutes), so that’s why I keep it to once a week.

Typically, I wash and condition in the shower and when I get out I use a leave-in treatment and a hair oil. My hair is usually relatively dry at the ends, regardless of what I put in it.

After using each of the Olaplex steps, my hair is nice and soft at the ends. It doesn’t always seem to last until the next wash, so I’d be interested to try No.6 and No.7 and see what kind of difference it makes.
