The Best Face Masks and Skin Care Treatments

Even though we’re starting to go out in public again, and wearing makeup, I’m still really invested in great skincare. I don’t know about you, but I’m still bare-faced more often than I’m wearing makeup! Here are some of my favorite and best face masks!

As I was putting this list together, I didn’t realize just how many face masks I have and use regularly! Almost all of these are in my current rotation and use them at different times depending on how my skin looks.

Before using a face mask, I’ll take a good look at my skin to try and figure out what it needs at the time. Although there’s a brightening category below, all of these masks can help improve the brightness of your skin, depending on what it needs.

Something I didn’t know I needed for the longest time was a face mask applicator. It helps the mask go on smoother, and it’s not all over your hands. Sometimes it felt like I had more product on my hands than I did on my face!

Overnight Hydrating Masks

If my skin is feeling dry, I’ll go for a hydrating mask. I’ll wear these overnight – some in conjunction with other masks that are more drying, or if I just want a boost of hydration.

The Laneige Water Sleeping mask I’ll use either on top of my nighttime skincare routine, on top of a drying acne treatment, or just on its own!

These masks are on the pricier side, but a lot of them have travel/trial sizes, so it’s great if you want to try them out before spending a lot of money!

Hydrating Masks

What I like about this mask is that it’s hydrating, but also detoxifying too. So if I think my skin needs a little more than just moisture, this is a great option. And Peter Thomas Roth also sells great mask kits with smaller sizes of different masks!

Pore Clearing Masks

If I’ve been wearing a lot of makeup, or feel like my face is a little bit congested and pimples might be on their way, I’ll reach for a pore clearing mask.

The Glamglow and Origins Charcoal masks are probably the heaviest hitters when it comes to pore clearing, while the rest have other benefits like skin retexturizing.

Exfoliating Masks

Exfoliating is really important when it comes to having a glowing complexion and great looking foundation. Make sure you don’t over-exfoliate, just keep it to 1-2 times per week. These masks are different from typical gritty formulas, but work great!

Brightening Masks

These masks are intended to brighten with Vitamin C as a key ingredient, which helps with dullness and uneven skin tone with continued use.

Acne Clearing

The Clinique Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel isn’t necessarily a face mask, but I’ve included it in the mask category because it’s not a product I use everyday. This product is pretty drying, but I use the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask on top for a great combination.

The Ordinary products for acne scars

The Ordinary offers so many great products at a super affordable price, plus there are a lot of The Ordinary products for acne scars and leave you with beautiful skin.

AHA + BHA Peeling Solution – when you use this product, make sure your skin is dry when you apply and keep it on for only 10 minutes. It will probably sting a little bit, so if it hurts a lot make sure you wash it off early!

AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, $7.20

Glycolic Acid Toning Solution – this toning solution mildly exfoliates and improves radiance. This toner can be used once per day.

Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, $8.70

Salicylic Acid Masque – this mask can be used to clean up acne before it starts, but it can be pretty drying. Make sure you don’t leave it on for an excessive amount of time, and moisturize after.

Salicylic Acid 2% Masque, $12
