It’s time for “How to Wear it at Any Age Volume 10”. We’ve got four unique looks featuring the top trends for Spring/Summer 2022. We’ve added some alternative looks this time too, to give you more ideas on how these pieces might work with your style.
This is how “How to Wear it at Any Age Volume 10” works: We decide together on the items that we want to style. We do not share how we were going to style each one, so that we can’t influence each other. Sometimes we will style things very similar and sometimes very different. But we hope in all cases we give you some style inspiration, no matter what your age or life stage!

The Challenge for “How to Wear it at Any Age Volume 10”
Here are the four items we are styling for this edition.
Orange Sweater: the perfect lightweight sweater, representing the bold color trends this season. $99 at Macy’s.
White Shirtdress: Black and White is a big trend this season, both together and separately. The white shirtdress is a classic style that can be worn for years. $78 at Express.
Green Embellished Collar Top: Embellishments (especially sequins) are on-trend this season. We love this top because it has the right embellishment to add interest and still be able to wear it casually or more dressy. $47.90 at Zara.
Black Jumpsuit: This is an elevated casual look we’re seeing this spring. While we still like our pandemic sweatpants, there are ways to be comfortable and still be styling. $37.99 at Amazon. (price updated on 5/9/23)

How to Wear it at Any Age: Black Jumpsuit

I was initially a little hesitant with this jumpsuit to be honest. The style was something I could see me wearing running errands, a casual brunch, etc. But I wasn’t sure I wanted to deal with the difficulty of taking a jumpsuit on and off when using the bathroom. But this one is so comfortable and the material moves so nicely, it’s perfect.
As we mentioned, it’s an elevated casual look. I first tried it with sneakers which I liked, but I liked these studded sandals a little bit better. I think it adds a little more detail to the solid black jumpsuit. I added the black and white necklace to finish up with a more summery look.
When Jen and I started talking about jumpsuits for “How to Wear It an any Age Volume 10”, I was thinking of something more dressy. She quickly talked me out of it based on her story/experience with a dressy jumpsuit at a wedding. I won’t spoil it, you’ll have to read it under Jen’s styling!
Here are some additional looks, updated in May 2023. Most of the items in these photos are things I’ve had for years, but I did find similar items that would give you the same look below

This is another look I would definitely wear. I’ve always liked pink and black together and I love the casual look of this outfit, with a pop of colo
For this next look, please know that I am NOT recommending that you wear all of these items together. That would be a little bit much. These are some ideas of how you could add a gold metallic piece to this outfit and make it just a little bit dressier (and fun!)

When Aunt Dianne and I talked about finding a jumpsuit, I had a flashback to when I wore a super cute jumpsuit to a wedding. It zipped up the back, which I didn’t totally think through. Every time I needed to go to the bathroom, I had to drag my sister with me to unzip and zip my outfit. So my request was we find a jumpsuit that is off/on a little easier.

Just because I wouldn’t wear this jumpsuit to a wedding, doesn’t mean I can’t dress it up a bit! And as we all know by now, I will wear my faux-leather jacket with pretty much anythingThis is no exception! Plus some cute sandals (maybe with heels), and a whole bunch of jewelry.
Or, I love wearing a comfortable jumpsuit like this when we’re heading to the lake for the weekend or going to be driving for a while. I’ll definitely wear leggings on long drives, but a jumpsuit is just a little bit extra if you’re going to be stopping along the way! And a jean jacket is a perfect way to keep warm!
How to Wear it At Any Age Volume 10: Orange Sweater

One of the things that I’ve learned about myself since we started this blog is that I like adding pieces that have a vintage look. Case in point, my neckerchief. While they are definitely in style right now, I still feel the look is a little bit 50’s/60’s. I think it’s because it reminds me of my mom.
I kept this look pretty classic with the all white and the pop of color in the orange and in my bag. I like neutral shoes because they give you an elongated look. My bag is actually beaded, adding to the embellished look this season. Unfortunately it is no longer available – it sold out quickly.
My shoes are from Target and are actually a wide width, but the link below is to the regular sizes. Tip: If you need a wide width shoe, Target offers them in many styles online – just search for “wide width shoes”.
My scarf I got through my Curateur membership (curated by Rachel Zoe). It’s a $99 subscription box that arrives four times a year with both fashion and beauty products. It’s worth checking out.

One of the many things I love about this sweater is that it can be dressed up or down. Pairing it with jeans and some seasonal shoes and accessories makes for a chic summer look.
You can also wear this sweater to add a pop of color to a neutral look. Again, it can be dressed up or dressed down.

This sweater is so pretty – partly because orange is my favorite color! But it’s also a really great cut, and because it’s lightweight, it can be worn in pretty much any season. It’s easy to throw in your bag, for when it gets chilly outside!
I stay away from wearing all black with orange, because it can end up really Halloween-looking. But you might recognize this dress from our last Wear it at Any Age, and it looks really great with the sweater! The black and white gingham pattern keeps it from getting too spooky!

Wearing the sweater and a spaghetti strap floral dress would be a beautiful combination for an upcoming summer wedding!
This sweater would also go well with a pair of printed shorts, and a basic top! Pull on shorts are everywhere for this summer, and they’re stylish and comfortable. Win, win!
I’d wear a pair of printed shorts with a basic top, either a bodysuit or even a simple graphic t-shirt. The outfit would be able to stand on its own without the sweater, and the sweater would add an extra fun element!
How to Wear it at Any Age: White Shirt Dress
Dianne’s Styling
One of my favorite color combinations for summer is tan and white. I found this handbag at the end of last summer and I’ve been trying to build an outfit around it. (Since I’ve had my bag for a while, it’s no longer available new, but I did find it on Poshmark for $50.)
I think the white shirtdress is the perfect fit with the bag. I will actually create an entire outfit around a handbag (and jewelry for that matter). I find it fun to “reverse design” an outfit starting with accessories. My shoes are the same shoes I am wearing with the orange sweater.

If you’ve been getting to know me just a little bit, then you know that I will always find a way to add lavender to any outfit. It’s been my favorite for as long as I can remember. This scarf can be worn as a wrap and I love its feminine details. It gives the entire outfit a feminine vibe.
This next look is a little more casual. I often will substitute navy for black in the summer. It still has that nice contrast but it’s just a little more summery.

When I saw this dress, I instantly thought of a couple completely different styles it could be worn as! If you aren’t sure what your personal style type is, check out our Style Quiz.
First, I thought this dress would make a great chic, business casual look. With this blazer and slip-on mules, it’s comfortable, but will make you feel put-together while working.

I also thought this dress would also lend itself really well to a romantic and/or preppy look too! A cute patterned neckerchief, a straw bag and some espadrilles for a summer date night, or getting together with friends!
Green Embellished Collar Top

As you’ll read in Jen’s comments below, it takes a lot of convincing for me to try on a shirt with a collar. I’m not sure why, but over the years I’ve just shied away from them. But this shirt I absolutely love. It may be because I am wearing it closed, rather than open and it gives the top a little bit of a different look.
I also love how the pearls on the collar can be dressed down. I think it looks great with my straight leg jeans. While I try to avoid being “matchy-matchy” with my handbag, I made an exception in this case because the bag is practically the exact same color. I like how the bag and the top look together. (The bag shown below is similar, not the exact same bag).

I choose a dressier look as an alternative. Pair the blouse with a white pencil skirt for a very chic look. Add the white trench coat and no one will look better at the office (or anywhere really!) The pearl handbag gives it the perfect “day to night” look.
This second look you could wear just about anywhere, because pairing anything with black is always a good idea!

I saw this top while shopping (in store! what?!), and loved it instantly. Aunt Dianne has said before she isn’t a huge fan of collars, so I wasn’t sure what she would think. And to my surprise, she loved it too!
The simplest way I would wear this shirt is with a pair of jeans and cute heels or fun flats. Keeping the look casual, but with a little sparkle from the shirt.

But this top would look really great with an edgy twist, wearing a faux-leather mini skirt, black bag and strappy black heels. Plus, tuck in the top to show off your gorgeous figure!Jen’s Alternative Looks:
