Whether you’re having your first baby or your third, maternity clothes in the first trimester can be tricky. Especially after baby number one, your body remembers what to do, and you very quickly need new pants. When you’re out of the house, or even when you’re at home, you want early pregnancy outfits to be cute, and make you feel good! Especially if you’re spending part of your time getting sick!
Throughout the first trimester, your belly might expand a bit. Unfortunately, you don’t quite look pregnant yet, more like you had a big meal. I’m a big proponent of telling friends and family when you want, but for some people, they’re not comfortable sharing the news until they’re out of the first trimester.
So what should you wear? And what about by season?
Maybe this isn’t a huge surprise, but there aren’t a lot of clothes out there for seasons other than spring! So this post will be continually updated with new options!
Spring Early Pregnancy Outfits
Similar to fall, depending on where you live, your spring can oscillate from freezing and snow to slowly warming up.
Still cold? Stick with some of your winter sweaters, but start wearing some spring colors if you have them. Like yellow, cream or pink!
As it starts to warm up, find some flowy floral tops that will extend past your elastic-front pants. And top it with a trench coat to keep you warm and dry when it rains.
Flowy floral dresses are so pretty for springtime with a trench on top. Perfect for a warmer Easter Sunday!
A vest will also add a secretive layer to your outfit, plus it’ll keep you warm too!

Summer Early Pregnancy Outfits
The easiest way to hide your belly in the summer is with dresses! Maxi, shift dresses and baggier styles will keep you cool and looking cute! No one will be able to guess what’s going on!
In the summer, I’m also a fan of bike shorts and a baggy t-shirt. Bike shorts are 100X more comfortable than jean shorts, and are great when you’re not even sure what size you are.
I’m not in my 20’s, so wearing bike shorts and a tight-fitting crop top aren’t an option for me anymore (if they ever were). So a baggy t-shirt is perfect! Or, when it gets chillier out at nighttime, a baggy sweatshirt.
Huge fan of baggy sweatshirts over here!
Plus, sandals and cute sneakers will keep your feet feeling good!
Fall Early Pregnancy Outfits
The weather can be a bit weird during the fall time, not sure if it wants to be hot or freezing. But that means you get a little bit of both as far as clothing options go!
You can still use the same flowy dresses from the summertime, or start mixing in some leggings and sweaters into your outfits.
Plus, start incorporating some baggy flannels (part-way buttoned) and a puffer vest, and you’ve got a picture-perfect fall outfit.
What else is great about fall is you don’t have to get out the heavy jackets just yet. You can find an affordable maternity fleece jacket at places like Old Navy, that aren’t expensive but also keep you warm.
Do keep an eye out at this time though for winter jackets, you’re probably not going to fit in the jackets you already have!
Winter Early Pregnancy Outfits
Luckily, winter and fall are some of the easiest seasons to hide your growing baby bump! Baggy sweaters are going to be your best friend, and luckily they’re in style!
Regardless of the season, you’re going to want to get some maternity jeans. If you feel comfortable doing the pony band trick with your jeans, you’re all set! Personally, my fly was all the way down when I tried this trick, and thought there was no way I wasn’t going to get caught!
The other difficult thing for me is I like to do a front tuck with my shirts, and I definitely can’t in this instance! Either people would see my fly down, or an elastic waistband!
Leggings will also be your best friend! Look for liquid leggings that will look great with your baggy sweaters! Wear some cute boots with it, and you’ve got a pretty fashionable outfit!
Sometimes, wearing a baggy sweater and leggings looks more intentional than it does with jeans. So people won’t suspect you’re hiding something!

Early pregnancy outfits should make you feel like the gorgeous mama that you are, even if other people don’t know it yet!
