Beauty At Any Age Volume 17: How to Get the Bridgerton Makeup Look

With Part 1 of Bridgerton Season 3 out, and Part 2 coming soon (or it came out on June 13, if you’re reading this after!) Bridgerton is everywhere! And that includes Bridgerton makeup looks!

A romantic aesthetic has also been popular lately, and aligns well with the Regency Era. Think Empire silhouettes, pastels and free-flowing fabrics.

Makeup had evolved from the French Revolution, where heavy makeup looks with heavy white paint were replaced with more natural looks. But still with rouge!

The makeup artists on Bridgerton took inspiration from this time period, with modern application techniques.

A big focus of the Bridgerton makeup is flawless, glowy skin. We’re going for a lit-from-within glow. Not dewy, or bordering on wet.

For Nicola Coughlan, they focused a lot of skin prep before the makeup even started. Like applying sheet masks daily. You don’t need to go that far, but make sure your skin is hydrated so you start off your makeup on the right foot.

I made sure my face was super hydrated, because if you follow us on Instagram, I shared that I’m pretty sure I messed up my skin barrier. Ugh. So I layered The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid Serum, Lancôme Rénergie H.C.F. Triple Serum, and Laneige Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Cream Moisturizer.

I used the Laneige primer, a dewy Wet N Wild foundation, Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter and NYX Serum concealer. I took my time blending everything in with a brush and makeup sponge, so everything looked as seamless as possible.

With a pink cream blush, I lightly blended a little bit on the apples of my cheeks. Color on the apples of the cheeks gives more of a cherubic and youthful look. And then topped with a Pat McGrath blush. I powdered with the OneSize setting powder, and used it to blend in and diffuse the blush. You want it to look like a natural flush, not that you’re wearing blush!

The eyes are also pretty simple too, similar to Penelope’s style. Other characters to have more eye makeup at balls and events.

Using the lighter matte shade, I blended it all over the lid with a fluffy brush. I kept on blending so it looked like a wash of color. I used the darker matte shade to lightly line my lid. And a super light wash of the gold glitter shade across the lids.

Some minimal wispy lashes would look good, but I just went with mascara this time.

Now lips! The lips should look “bitten” with just a little bit of shine. I layered on different pink lipsticks in matte and balm formulas until I was happy with the look. Wanted them to look blotted and that I didn’t think too much about them.

Finally, I used the Pat McGrath Highlighter and Balm duo for some shine. This is the same product they used on the show too!

I used a little bit of setting spray, and then I was all set!

I will admit from the start, that I didn’t take my makeup application as literal as Jen did. But now that I’ve read what she did, I wish I did! That said, I was mindful of the lipstick and blush that I used because I wanted it a little more subdued to fit the time periord.

Everything was based around the Bridgerton eyeshadow palettes that we bought from Kiko Milano Cosmetics, which they sell at Nordstrom. We used different palettes and mine was a little more intense with three out of the four being glittery shadows.

We did know which palettes each of us were using, so I was able to buy the green dress and design my makeup all around the green tones.

For my eyes, I started with the green shade all over my lids. As I mentioned, it was a little glittery, so I had to blend it in well. I used the matte terracotta shade in the crease and the bronze shade at the outer corners. I used the cream color in the inner corners to make them pop. This wasn’t an intentional smokey eye look, but it has some elements of one. The finishing touch was my Charlotte Tilbury eyeliner in Barbarella Brown and I do have on some Eylure Naturals lashes. My mascara is It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara.

For the rest of my makeup, I used pretty much what I use everyday. I did want a more moisturized look, so I did use my Summer Fridays Cloud Dew Gel Cream Moisturizer which I love. That was followed iwith another of my favorites, Laura Geller Spackle as my primer and then my favorite foundation in the entire world, Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Foundation.

I did use Maybelline’s Age Rewind Concealer around my eyes. I use two different shades — 160 in the inner corners of my eyes and 120 underneath my eyes and blend them well together. For my blush, I used my e.l.f Camo Liquid Blush in Pink Promise and finished off with a Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Pink Rose 233.
